About Pawnauta
Pawnauta is an independent guide for people who take their dogs out into the world — to parks, beaches, patios, hotels and on the road.
The name joins paw and nauta — the explorer, as in astronaut. The logo is a map pin with a paw inside: a place you can go with your dog.
What we publish
- City guides to every official off-leash area in 20 big US cities, with addresses, rules and the local details general guides miss — like algae warnings, weekly maintenance closures and permit fees.
- Practical guides on dog park etiquette, beaches, national parks, hotels, restaurants, road trips and flying.
- Original comparisons, such as off-leash space per resident across 20 cities, calculated from city lists and Census population estimates.
Pawnauta Editorial
Articles are signed Pawnauta Editorial. We don't put a made-up expert's name or face on our pages, and we never claim to have visited a park, tested a product or met a dog we haven't. Our job is to find the official rule, explain it clearly and link to it so you can check.
Each guide lists its sources at the bottom and shows the date it was last updated. Read the full method on How we research.
Independence
No park, business or city pays to appear on Pawnauta. The site is supported by advertising, which is shown separately from the editorial content and never changes what we write.
